Our organization implemented and adapted new tools and approaches with a new technological infrastructure for a virtual transition to help our community members to gain access to the appropriate technology to facilitate virtual care and for platforms designed for those with limited digital literacy and proficiency in English or French. Also, to continue providing immediate essential services to communities’ programs during this post pandemic crisis in order to prevent permanent closure and major job losses and thrive to continue to serve our communities as we rebuild the economy.
This project is helping to continue offering essential services to communities’ programs during this post pandemic crisis in order to prevent permanent closure and major job losses and thrive to continue to serve our communities as we rebuild the economy. It is also helping our organization monitor the situation of the African community about health, employment, and education to better identify the issues and the appropriate policy responses. These will create a collective sense of belonging among them, even while physically distant.
A reflection from the project team is that as the crisis continues and its negative impact, notably in terms of employment, further unfolds, especially for the many recent arrivals, our team is happy and satisfied that this project, <SHIFTING TO VIRTUAL PLATFORMS PROGRAM> will prevent the crisis from turning into an integration crisis. We anticipate future waves of COVID-19, or future pandemics, by ensuring that everyone has access to these supports so that this innovation does not exacerbate health and socioeconomic disparities.
